The Sound and Light audiovisual show
Dramatic music, colorful lights, lasers and the sound of the church bells – that’s what the audiovisual show “Sound and Light” is all about. The story of the glory and tragedy of the Second Bulgarian Empire is interpreted and told with no words but only the power of colors and music. The spectacle is unique in Europe, the most famous place, where tourists could see something like it are the Pyramids in Egypt.
The first Sound and Light show was held in 1985, as part of the celebrations for the 800 anniversary from the Uprising of Assen and Peter. The hundreds of colored lights, three lasers and dozens of flashes are telling the story of Veliko Tarnovo, the fights against Ottoman hordes, the years of slavery, the Revival, the revolutionary movement and end with the joy of Liberation.
The Sound and Light audiovisual show was created by a bulgarian-chechoslovak team. The best place to watch it is from the Tzar Ivan Asen II plaza, situated in front of the main entrance of Tsarevets. For reservations: phone – (062) 636 952.
